New Kayak Launch
Dexter City Lake
The City of Dexter has installed a new ADA-accessible kayak launch at the city lake on One Mile Road, expanding local outdoor recreation opportunities. The launch is one of only two of its kind in Missouri. The project was funded through the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Grant (ORIG) from the Missouri Department of Conservation and was completed as a 50/50 cost share with the City of Dexter. The total project cost, including an accessible sidewalk to the launch, was approximately $65,000 and came in under budget. The launch provides a stable and accessible entry point for kayaks and canoes. The lake is restricted to non-motorized watercraft, and life jackets are required at all times. This improvement enhances public access to the city lake while supporting safe, inclusive, and conservation-focused recreation.
